French Door repair or replace?

I have a patio French door that only one door opens. It opens from the outside end, with hinges in the middle of the frame. The wood between both doors where the hinges are mounted, is rotten (water damage) at the bottom. My question is would it be possible to jus replace this wood piece, or would I have to replace the whole assembly? Thanks for your help.
