How to get better signal for my phone?

So I just got a new iPhone 4s yesterday from cricket and it's slow as hell! Well not all the time but for exampIe if i try to enter a page, the 3G sign disappears and instead, a little circle appears. That's when it gets SLOW! Is it just the signal around my house? And since I paid a lot of money for it I think it should be better than this.. Any suggestions?
