What kind of education to become an advocate?

I am intersted in finding out what kind of education I would need to work for non-profit organizations that advocate for spouses of military service members. I am a former military spouse who struggled to get help for my soldier who returned home from combat with severe PTSD. I want to help other spouses/families who have the same struggles, as I can closely identify with them over their emptional state.
