I'm so lost...blog help!?

I started a blog about a month ago and I am so overwhelmed by all the things you need to do to market your blog. There are so many terms like pings and SEO, I don't even know what they mean and I'm supposed to work on this stuff. Where the heck do i start?! My goal is to get my blog out there for people to read, if I make money great, but I just want people to read it right now. Can someone telll me where to start? Whats the first thing I should do?
